Business Support

For over 65 years, The Community Fund of Darien has been helping people in need and making a positive change in our community. Our local business partners can help us achieve our goals. Together we can make a difference in the lives of those most vulnerable in Stamford, Norwalk and Darien and ensure the health and success of our community.

Intelligent Philanthropy: Every year, The Community Fund diligently reviews grant applications and awards grants to the most effective local nonprofits, ensuring that your dollars are used responsibly to achieve the greatest results.

Impact: Our grants address a broad spectrum of vital human services needs in Darien, Stamford and Norwalk, including homelessness, hunger, abuse, mental illness, at-risk youth and more. With your help, each year we are able to invest at least $700,000 back in our community.

Engagement: By hosting annual events such as our Volunteer Recognition Luncheon, the Darien High School Volunteer Fair, the Darien Road Race, and the Youth Community Fund, we promote volunteerism and philanthropy in our community. We host a monthly forum with local social service directors and town leaders, our Human Service Planning Council, to assess local needs and respond to our community’s most pressing concerns.

Youth: We have developed a 5-year strategic plan for Darien to tackle the difficult issues of teenage drinking and mental health. Together with more than 40 partners in our Thriving Youth Task Force - youth service providers, therapists, parents and school officials – we will implement our campaign between 2016- 2020. We have 3 youth groups that provide volunteer and leadership opportunities for our teens. This year, our Darien youth programs attracted over 1,000 Darien teens, parents and administrators.

What is your legacy?

Planned gifts are critical to The Community Fund’s ability to change lives today, tomorrow and well into the future. Our community’s challenges are bigger than any one organization can solve alone. The Community Fund will continue to bridge critical gaps in services needed by our community and evolve as our community evolves.

We have been serving the Darien community for more than 65 years.

To ensure we can continue to address our community’s most complex and significant issues, your legacy gifts are needed. Together, we can build a better future where young children have a great start, youth experience academic success, adults and families reach economic stability and attain affordable housing. We will continue to assess and respond to the local needs of our community for many years to come.

Join our Legacy Circle

Members of our Legacy Circle have made a commitment to The Community Fund of Darien in their will or estate plans.  You can also be an integral part of our future by including a charitable gift within your overall estate and financial plans. A simple and versatile way to ensure we can continue our work for years to come is a gift in your will or living trust, known as a charitable bequest. A charitable bequest is one or two sentences in your will or living trust that leave to The Community Fund of Darien a specific item, an amount of money, a gift contingent upon certain events or a percentage of your estate. Alternatively, you can designate The Community Fund of Darien as the beneficiary of your retirement plan. Careful planning for the disposition of retirement plan assets can help avoid undesirable tax costs.

With a little planning, you can make a big difference in our community for years to come.
